CHANGINGÂ LIVES
Over the past three decades, thousands of people have become more centered, successful, and fulfilled through Nick's teaching, mentoring, and speaking.
Though widely recognized as "one of the leading martial arts instructors in North America," his impact reaches far beyond the dojo. He is known for creating welcoming, supportive environments where individuals and teams are empowered to grow with curiosity, connection, and joy.
Nick holds advanced black belts in Judo, Karate, Iaido, Jujutsu, and Kyudo, and has trained extensively in Japan under some of the most revered martial arts masters of the post WWII period. As founder of the Japanese Martial Arts Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan, he has shaped a culture where traditional budo meets personal transformation. He also leads or co-owns successful ventures in law (The Law Office of Nicklaus Suino), digital marketing (Michigan SEO Group), and publishing (Master & Fool Books), all guided by his core principles of clarity, mastery, and contribution.
He is the author of twelve books, including A.I. vs Everybody, The Big Lift, Look Up! and Budo Mind and Body (named "Essential Gear" by Black Belt Magazine). His book Practice Drills for Japanese Swordsmanship held the #1 spot in Amazon's Fencing Books category for weeks. Through his keynote talks, immersive events, and the transformative PERMISSION program, he equips leaders, creatives, and seekers to move beyond limiting mindsets and into alignment with their highest potential.
Nick has been honored by the University of Michigan-Dearborn as Mentor of the Year, by the Bluewater Chamber of Commerce for advancing entrepreneurship, and by the International Martial Arts Federation for his contributions to traditional Japanese budo. He and his work have appeared in publications including Black Belt Magazine, The ANN Magazine, and the Journal of Asian Martial Arts.
A committed community advocate, Nick and his teams support dozens of impactful causes, including Wounded Warrior Project, Fisher House of Michigan, Alzheimer's Association, Boy Scouts of America, SafeHouse of Ann Arbor, and the Maui Strong Fund. Giving back is not a side effort — it's a central tenet of how he leads.
At the intersection of ancient wisdom and the accelerating future, Nick invites individuals and organizations to step into mastery — not just of skill, but of self. He teaches that to thrive in a rapidly evolving world, we must cultivate clarity, align with nature, develop a healthy relationship with the passage of time, and engage in the daily work that prepares us to shape what comes next.
